FAQ's
What is hypnotherapy?
- Hypnotherapy or Hypnosis is a completely natural process of using deep relaxation to allow you to make changes in how you deal with habits, feelings and situations. It can help with confidence, reduce anxiety and help with personal goals such as stopping smoking, losing weight and being able to cope better in difficult situation.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
- There is no doubt that some people find it easier than others to go into hypnosis, however it is important to remember that it is an active process achieved by the person "being hypnotised" not something which is done to you by the therapist.
What does hypnosis feel like?
- Most people just feel really relaxed whilst in hypnosis and many do not notice they are in hypnosis at all! Natural hypnosis is achieved by most people everyday in situations where they drift off or day dream. Any time you notice that time is running away really quickly or dragging is a sign that you have been in natural hypnosis.
What is your success rate?
- The codes of ethics of the professional bodies of which I am a member do not permit the making of claims regarding success rates. This is simply because there is no clear definition of what "success" entails. Every client is different and treated as an individual and their views on "success" vary just as greatly.
Is Hypnotherapy Regulated?
- Only on a voluntary basis, through the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), which is a Govt. agency set up to provide a point of reference for members of the public who are searching for a complementary therapist.
- All health service personnel, including your GP, are required to refer you to this register, in the event that you express an interest in complementary therapies.
Can I be influenced to do anything against my will?
- No, you are in control at all times and cannot be made to do anything which goes against your own morals or beliefs.
Can I get ‘stuck’ in hypnosis?
- No it is impossible to get ‘stuck’ in hypnosis as it is a completely natural state. If something were to happen to the therapist while you are in hypnosis you would naturally drift out of your own accord.
Will I remember what has happened?
- Yes, people find they remember much of what happens during hypnotherapy. You are not asleep or unconscious, you will be aware of everything that is going on around you.
How many sessions will I need?
- In the first session it will be possible to give you a fair assessment of how much improvement you can expect and how many sessions may be needed. Most issues require between four and six sessions.
Will I be able to drive afterwards?
- Yes, you will still be feeling relaxed, however your actions and reactions will be functioning super-efficiently.
Do you guarantee success?
- It is never possible to guarantee human behaviour, but we will do all that I can to help you achieve your goals.
